Who Are We Called to Serve?

I can’t believe it’s nearly January! (Or perhaps it is when you’re reading this.) So much happened in 2024, and I feel like I can already sense the energy that even more will happen in 2025. This past summer, we really began having serious conversations about what the future of the congregation will look like.

Who are we called to serve?

Is our current configuration of structure the best to serve those people?

How long can we survive if nothing changes?

These are the types of questions that the two Breakthrough teams have been asking and exploring. They aren’t making decisions, but gathering information and options based on some questions and conversations that the board has been having the rest of the year.

On January 26th during an after worship lunch, both teams are planning on sharing the conversations that they’ve discussed, some of the conclusions they’ve drawn, and then open the floor for some questions from the congregation.

The intention was never to keep the conversations a secret, or have decisions made behind closed doors. We’ve needed to discuss the future direction of the congregation for a while, and this is one way of gathering information to make it clear and understandable for everyone involved.

The Breakthrough teams would absolutely appreciate everyone attending the Town Hall so they care share what they’ve been discussing and so that they can hear from the congregation if they need to focus on something they haven’t thought of yet.

The work is nowhere near done. But what we do know is that we have hope.

The Holy Spirit is alive and is at work in our congregation, and we have no doubts about that.
