What are we missing?

The whole of last month, we spent a lot of time talking about Christmas in July and specifically about the people who missed Christmas. There’s so many reasons why some people miss Christmas, or miss the message, or miss God.

But as a church, I fear sometimes that we too are missing opportunities to hear God speak and to let the Messiah get some work done.

There are a lot of conversations going on right now about the future of our congregation and where we’re headed and what we’re doing and what our values are and so on and so forth. These conversations should never stop happening.

But they’re equally just as scary.

And I imagine they’re very much like when Jesus started teaching in Nazareth, or when people started talking about this new baby that was born. It was something they knew, from the scriptures, from the stories, and yet they were still scared about the conversations that were happening and just what that meant for their future.

What are we missing as a congregation by holding on too much to the past and being scared of the conversations we’re having?

What are we afraid of when it comes to what we might look like in the future?

But if we trust God, and if we trust that in God all things are possible like Mary did, just what might we have hope for when it comes to our future?

Think about it. Share about it. See what other people might fear and hope for. Because we are in this together, as a community growing, as a community vibrant, as a community of love and hope.
