January 2025 Town Hall Meeting Recap

Writer's picture: Pastor AeriiPastor Aerii

On January 26th, many people gathered together for our Town Hall meeting presented by the Breakthrough teams. Each breakthrough team presented and then there was a question and answer time afterward.

The structure team talked a lot about finances, stating that there is on average a $26,112 deficit each year (2021, 2022, 2023). They listed potential options to make up this deficit from reimagining and realigning the endowments with our current values/vision, sharing the church building with another congregation, selling the building, and opened the floor for potential other options that they might not have thought of.

The vision team shared that their purpose is to prayerfully discern the direction that God wants the congregation to go. They looked at the values that the church sees in themselves, relationships, mission/service, community, and to see that the community of the congregation isn’t just the 65 in worship on Sundays but the 65,000 people in Cheyenne.

Following the short presentations was a time of question and answer, where we described the church in one word.

Family   Mission    Serenity

Loving Caring people   Fun

Worship  Community   Faith

Where we mentioned what we wanted to see different in the next ten years.

* More mission work in the community

* More youth

* More active members

* More Biblical instruction

* More intergenerational activities

* More fun

* More outreach to the world

* More adult baptisms

Where we discussed things we wanted to move away from

· Being me centered

· Custodians – perhaps moving to volunteers instead of paid staff

There were many questions asked about the structure and function of the congregation. Nothing was voted on at this town hall because there was nothing to vote on. The entire purpose of the town hall was an information exchange between the congregation and the breakthrough teams.

Both groups will continue their conversations in the next six months. The next conversation/town hall will take place on June 22, 2025 after worship service.

Please continue to pray for our congregation as we shake things up, make movements, and continue to have deep conversations and search for God’s direction.

If you have any questions for the group or anything you want them to discuss or you to discuss with them, please contact the church office and they’ll put you in touch with the right person.
