Building Dreams, Transforming Lives - June 2024

Updated: Aug 29

First Christian Church has been partnered with Unaccompanied Students Initiative for quite some time and has steadily moved towards our financial goal of $202,600 to help build a home for pregnant teenagers. The current status of the funds for this effort is $123,555.10. This home will help mothers finish high school and build a life skills/education foundation that can be a basis for keeping them out of poverty and putting them on the path to a happy, successful life.

You never know the impact that your help may have on any person, and you never know how much a person who is given a chance may benefit society. For over 3 years, Mario Capecchi, as a young child, was homeless living on the streets of wartime Italy and eventually was placed in an orphanage. He almost died of malnutrition. Shortly after the war, with some help, he moved to the US to live with an uncle and in 1967 earned a PhD in biophysics from Harvard. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for his work in genetic engineering.

Helping those who need a helping hand is the right thing to do. You never know how much your help, in whatever form you choose to help, may affect the life of an individual. The help you provide may impact others in a way that is unforeseeable. In 1 Peter 10 we are enjoined to, “...use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace.”
